eCommerce site, CMS and bespoke distributor area

The Brief

We were invited by Fujikura Europe Ltd to completely overhaul their outdated website. The site was built on a legacy system and designs were inconsistent and failed to clearly show their whole product range. Their previous website also had an online store which sold accessory products and included a separate distributor area system. The brief was clear; improve the website design to attract new customers to the website, improve website SEO structure, increase sales through a new online store and retain existing customers and distributors on the site to utilise their support features. With these requirements in mind, the new website design still needed to portray the brand as a world leading manufacturer of fibre optic products and solutions.

Our Solution

As with all our CMS / eCommerce projects, we initially spent some time with the client project team to map out the overall information architecture and create a technical specification for the project outlining all products, content and requirements for distributors. From these agreed goals, we initially wire-framed several designs of key pages to give the client an understanding of proportions, structure, navigation and interactive page elements. Once agreed, we created our photoshop designs for approval, and then used this structure with our agreed specification to start development. The result is a revitalised product and marketing website that offers both new visitors and returning customers a more interactive purchasing and information resource, when dealing with Fujikura.
