Databarracks invited NXT Digital Solutions to re-design their corporate website, which NXT initially developed for Databarracks in 2008. The brief was simple, create an extremely navigable site that reflected the growing brand and its value, whilst still clearly showcasing all their products and services.
After initial competitor analysis and a thorough discussion on how the website would reflect the position of the Databarracks brand, we started by overhauling the home page layout and navigation. From our initial conversations, we scamped out a design of the home page, which after a few amendments was approved. We introduced a large image carousel which was designed to clearly promote the five business divisions. We also incorporated a mega navigation menu for all the products and services.
Having done some site mapping and an analytics review of the site with the client, we improved user experience by clearly pointing visitors to their chosen area of interest - quickly. Some feedback from internal stakeholders was that the business needed to communicate lots of information to its visitors but the original site became slightly cluttered. We helped improve this for their products by designing a quick and simple to understand product comparison tool for three business units with quick document downloads and areas to contact sales staff.
We plugged the site into Umbraco, an Open Source ASP.Net content management system enabling the client to manage and update content quickly and simply. Overall, we think we have helped users view more of the content that will interest them in a quicker time period and helped keep the Databarracks brand refreshed to stay ahead of their competition.
